See yeah blog !

Well finally the last day of this blog, i thought it would never come ! I would like to thank my readers, followers, and especially the people who have been commenting on my blog for the last couple weeks. I believe that i achieved my goal by completing this on time, and putting my best effort into it. I won't know if i achieved my big goal until my teacher marks this. My main goal was to pass ela with a pretty decent mark, but at this point i think i would take a 50%. I will not be keeping up with this blog, so after today there will be no more posts from me about my summer plans. I hope you all enjoyed my blog, and once again i would like to thank you all for the comments !

Thanks,
Bye for now!

Schools out for summer-Alice Cooper
Well we got no choice
All the girls and boys
Makin all that noise
'Cause they found new toys
Well we can't salute ya
Can't find a flag
If that don't suit ya
That's a drag

School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces

No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's dirty looks

Well we got no class
And we got no principles
And we got no innocence
We can't even think of a word that rhymes

School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces

No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's dirty looks

Out for summer
Out till fall
We might not go back at all

School's out forever
School's out for summer
School's out with fever
School's out completely

Grade 11 to an end !

Today will be the last day i have to write about something new, so i thought i would write about finishing grade 11. Tomorrow is the last day of classes for grade 11, I'm rather excited to be done school for the summer. I only have two exams; History and Accounting so I'm not worried about exams really. I'm so ready for summer and to just enjoy the summer months while it lasts. This summer is going to have to be good, because it will be the last summer i have before coming back to high school. Grade 11 has been a good year for me, likely the best year i have had here at the VCI. Well only two exams and then I'm finished grade 11 woo !

Wish me luck on my exams.

Outside article:
  1. Rewriting. Rewriting your notes is great if you're a kinesthetic learner. Also, when you re-write something, you will probably think about what you are writing, what it's about, and why you wrote it down. Most importantly, it refreshes your memory. If you took notes a month ago and just found out that those notes will be relevant in your exam, rewriting them will remind you of them when you need it for your exam.
  2. Find the right hours. Don't study when you're really tired. It's better to study for two hours in one day than to try and cram in that daily hour of studying at two in the morning. You won't remember much and you're likely to stop before you have studied what you need.
  3. Don't cram. Cramming the night before is proven to be useless, because you're taking in so much information at once that it's impossible to memorize it at all -- in fact, you'll hardly retain anything. I know it's been preached to you many times before, but it's true: Studying before and going over it multiple times really is the best way to learn the material. This is especially true with things like history and subjects dealing with theory.
  4. Subjects. If it's math you're studying for, work on the problems. Don't just read over it like you would for a history class, because you can actually do math, but you can seldom do history. Working problems out will help burn them into your mind, and remember: if you can't solve the problem before the exam, you won't be able to solve it on the exam either. If you are studying for a more social subject, do your research! Make sure you know what you're talking about!
  5. Surroundings. How do you study best? In your PJ's, or your favorite t-shirt? With music or without? In your room or outside? Regardless, you probably won't be able to study while there are distractions like:
    • Your darling little brother or sister is running screaming around the house. You are going to end up watching movies because they are far too distracting.
    • Your older brother or sister is bothering you on purpose.
    • Your music is not relaxing, or is a song you want to sing along to instead of studying.
    • It's too dark. Your eyes will strain in dim light.
    • You're in a mess. Clean your room, as the mess around you really can distract you from what you're doing.
  6. Correct lighting. For men, try studying with a dimmer light (though not overly dim). Statistics say that 75% of guys that do this will focus better. For girls, it's indicated that 90% of the time, they study and focus better in a brighter room with little noise.
  7. TV. Some people like to have the TV on quietly in the background. This can cut both ways in that it can distract you from time to time, but also can help you to continue studying. It's a risky strategy to have the TV on: nobody really knows how much it takes away from your attention and may be distracting you more than you realize.
  8. Take Breaks. You need some time to have fun and it is better to revise when you are feeling relaxed than to exhaust yourself studying all day! The only caveat is, you need to avoid procrastination.

Gold eyes!

Every year we go into Winnipeg to watch the Gold eyes. Last year my family didn't go to many games because we were super busy with my baseball and my sisters baseball. But this year seen as how my sisters Junior A team is playing out of Winnipeg we will likely get in the city to make more games. Going to the game is a great experience even if you don't really enjoy watching baseball. They have entertainment in the 5th inning usually where they have people go out onto the field and do some sort of game thing. Kinda like what the Wheat Kings do during intermissions. Overall it's a great time, and you should likely check it out!

After going 3-4 on a seven game road trip, the Winnipeg Goldeyes sit half a game ahead of the Fargo-Moore head Red Hawks for the second spot int he North Division and three games behind the St.Paul Saints for the first in the division. This sets up another key set of games at home, as Winnipeg is back home for six games, beginning tonight with the first of three versus the Kansas City T-bones.

Red River Ex

In Winnipeg there is a fair kinda like Brandon fair, but only bigger! They have a lot more rides than Brandon does so it is a little more exciting than just going to Brandon every year. This year it is on from June 17th until June 26th, with every day something new happening. They have parades, kids games, adult rides, child rides, entertainment and everything you could think of. I am not one for rides but i think it would be fun to just go. They even have free concerts going on the whole time, but the bands that are playing aren't very well known. Shane Yellowbird would have been likely my only interest for the performances. My sister Andrea has her international fastball tournament in Winnipeg that weekend so she was wanting me to go with her. I was excited and looking forward to going with her, but it happens to be that i have to stay home and study for my exams! Next year, i am for sure going to enjoy the excitement that it brings!

FUN NEVER GETS OLD!

Get ready for the 60th annual Red River Exhibition - Friday, June 17 to Sunday, June 26.  The EX is the biggest summer fair in Manitoba, attracting an average of 200,000 visitors over 10 days!
Our fun family event is held at Red River Exhibition Park, located on the west side of Winnipeg, Manitoba at 3977 Portage Ave, just west of Highway 1 (Trans Canada) and Highway 100 (Perimeter) intersection.
The fair kicks off with a dazzling fireworks display on opening night, June 17, at 11:00pm.
Catch a Free Ride to The EX!
A fleet of four buses will run from Kapyong Barracks to our front gates - and back again! - from morning til night on Saturdays only (June 18 and June 25). The buses will run from 11:00am Saturday mornings until 12:30am Sundays. Each FREE trip will take less than 15 minutes. Save time and money by riding the shuttle. Pay no parking fees or bus fare, and save the time you'd spend looking for a parking spot at The EX grounds. The shuttle is a perfect solution for busy parents, too. They can drop off and pick up their kids at Kapyong instead of driving them back and forth to The EX. The buses only stop at Kapyong and The EX gates, so kids are guaranteed to get where they are going safely.
Kapyong Barracks is located at Grant and Kenaston. Park and Riders can leave their cars there at no cost on June 18 and 25 to catch the shuttle to and from The EX. Cyclists can opt to leave their bikes there, too. The EX is not responsible for any damages to bikes or vehicles "parked" at Kapyong.

Minneapolis

This year my dad really wants to take the family down to Minneapolis for a week during summer i believe in August. He is mainly interested in going down to watch a couple MLB games. My dad and mom have gone down there quite a few times already so they kind of already know what there is all to do there. Once he told me that we are definitely getting a trip to go down there planned i was pretty excited because I've always wanted to watch a MLB game live and experience the atmosphere of being there would be like.My favorite team is San Fransisco because of the catcher Buster Posey! My other favorite team is Philadelphia Phillies because of Roy Halladay he is an unreal pitcher! There is so much to do while you are down there such as Mall of America where there is over 520 stores and 4 stories!  I think that would be awesome to go there to shop because they have every store you could think of! They even have a huge water park right in the mall that would awesome to go to while we were there! Anyways i hope its a great time once we get down there and the games are intense !

MINNEAPOLIS -- Alexi Casilla is the first to admit he enjoys coming up to the plate in key situations with the game on the line.
After all, Casilla was the one who gave the Twins their memorable walk-off win in Game 163 against Detroit in 2009.
And Casilla was at it again on Thursday night with his fifth-career walk-off hit, a clutch two-out single in the bottom of the ninth that gave the Twins a 5-4 win over the Rangers in front of a sold-out crowd at Target Field.
"I love those situations," Casilla said. "I just try to calm down and not be too excited. I just try to be me and look for a good pitch to hit."
Casilla's hit into left field off Rangers left-hander Arthur Rhodes came on a 2-1 slider and scored Luke Hughes, who led off the inning with a double against right-hander Mark Lowe.
"He threw first-pitch a slider in the dirt and then he threw a slider a little outside and up, but I wasn't looking for that pitch," Casilla said of his at-bat. "I was looking for something I can pull into the outfield grass. That's what I was thinking."
The game-winning hit wouldn't have been possible, however, if it wasn't for Hughes' double down the left-field line past third baseman Adrian Beltre, who didn't agree with the ruling made by third-base umpire Doug Eddings.
"It was foul," Beltre said. "I know for sure it was foul. I was playing on the line and my first step was toward the line ... the ball was to the right of me. How could it be fair? I was one step behind the bag ... the bounce was way before the bag. Clearly the replay showed it was foul."
But it was ruled fair and it helped the Twins record their seventh win over their last eight games and get within 11 games of the Indians in the American League Central.
"When you win a couple games in a row it breeds confidence a little bit," said Michael Cuddyer, who added a three-run homer in the fifth inning. "So, we have a little bit of confidence going. You can't look at the standings for the win-loss record, but it feels better to win than it does to lose and that's the momentum."
The late-inning heroics came after right-hander Nick Blackburn turned in 7 1/3 solid innings and Cuddyer and Delmon Young provided homers.
Blackburn, who exited his previous start on Saturday after just five innings because of back stiffness, certainly didn't show any signs of discomfort facing the potent Rangers. He served up a solo homer to Josh Hamilton in the first inning and a game-tying solo shot to Nelson Cruz in the eighth, but fared well otherwise, as he gave up four runs (two earned) on 10 hits while striking out six.
"I made a few mistakes and they made me pay for them," Blackburn said. "That's just what they do. They hit home runs. They have some big hitters and they're always going to get you with the home runs. So, it's hard to go out there because you feel like you have to execute every pitch. But I felt pretty good tonight."
Young also helped out at the plate with his first three-hit game of the year, including a solo blast in the second inning off left-hander Derek Holland, who ended up tying a career high with 10 strikeouts.
"I think the guy threw him a changeup and he put it in the seats, so that's nice to see," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "He just missed a few others, but it looked his bat head was out there." Minnesota then used Cuddyer's three-run blast off Holland to grab a 4-1 lead in the fifth inning. Homers were simply flying at Target Field as Cuddyer's traveled an estimated 443 feet, while Hamilton's was 441 and Cruz's 450.
"That ball [by Cruz] was hit really good and so was Hamilton's," Cuddyer said. "I hit mine really well and it was the shortest of the three. But hey, it went over the fence, and there were two guys on, which is a new thing this year for me."
Cuddyer's homer -- his team-leading eighth of the year -- came after a controversial play at second base when it appeared Rene Rivera was tagged out by Elvis Andrus on a groundball hit by Matt Tolbert. But second-base umpire Paul Nauert ruled Rivera was safe and it led to Cuddyer's big homer three batters later on a 1-0 changeup.
The Rangers came back with two runs of their own in the sixth with the help of two errors by the Twins. Hamilton opened with a single but advanced to second on an overthrow from Blackburn, before Adrian Beltre scored him with an RBI single. Cruz then reached on an error by Danny Valencia that allowed Beltre to reach third and score on a sacrifice fly from Mitch Moreland.
Cruz's homer into the third deck in left field knocked Blackburn out of the game in the eighth. The Rangers eventually loaded the bases with two out, but left-hander Chuck James got Mike Napoli to ground out to end the inning.
James and right-hander Jim Hoey combined to pitch a scoreless ninth to set the stage for Casilla's walk-off winner.
"Alexi comes up and you get that feeling he'll bang it somewhere," Gardenhire said. "There's a lot of ways he can get a hit. So, he put a nice swing on it and got us off the field before the rain set in."

Country Fest

Country Fest 2011!
This year I really wanted to go to Country Fest, but i was planning on going with Shelby and Jessica originally but now that Shelby and I aren't really good friends with Jessica like how it used to be it wouldn't be as much fun. So we decided we weren't going to go this year and that we are planning a bigger group for our grade 12 year to go up next year. I think it would be fun to go this year, but i would likely have a lot more fun next year with a bigger group of friends. This year the people lined up are: Doc Walker performing June 30th, Johnny Reid performing July 1st, Toby Keith performing July 2nd, and Billy Currington closing it off on July 3rd. I have already see Doc Walker so it would be kind of a repeat for me, but I would have really enjoyed seeing Billy Currington but oh well next year i hope there is a great line up and a good headliner to make for a good time!

Kenosse waterpark

Kenosse Superslides !
Kenosse is a popular place especially come summer time! There is so much to do other than just the awesome super slides. Kenosse is located in Saskatchewan and it takes an hour and a bit from my hometown, Virden Manitoba. Kenosse has a lot to offer for a wide range of age. They not only have the water slides, but they have the lake as well as a kids play center, they have a clothing store where you can purchase an article of clothing to remember your experience. If your interested in mini golfing they even have a nice course to put away on or you can go to the White Bear golf course to have an actual game. They just recently have a new casino called the Bear Claw Casino & Lounge. If your not a huge fan of water slides, you can always just relax in the hot tub and watch the entertainment. This year me and some friends are interested in going up for the day or even making it a camping trip and stay in Kenosse. I think that this would make for a good time, because the slides just never got old know matter how old you are or how many times you've rode them. Now that they are getting older they kinda hurt the back if you lie down, you don't really realize how much it hurts until you get off the slide and realize your back feels like it's completely scratched. But after all it's all worth the little bit of pain. I would recommend this water park to anyone of any age ! Hopefully my friends and I are able to make the trip happen, because i know we will have a super time !
